Town Context
- The Main Campus of Princeton University is located in Mercer County, within the Borough and Township of Princeton. The Borough and Township of Princeton have a total population of over 30,000 people. Campus areas are also located in West Windsor Township and Plainsboro, NJ.
- Some of the main roads to the Borough and Township of Princeton pass through the campus, including Alexander Street and Washington Road.
- Princeton University receives almost half a million visitors every year, including visitors to the neighboring area of Princeton Township, Princeton Borough and West Windsor Township.
- The campus provides landscaped open spaces and views of greenery that are open to the public for enjoyment and recreation, especially in its historic core. Visitors also enjoy Lake Carnegie for recreation and sporting events.
- Visitors can enjoy performances in Princeton spaces such as the Roger S. Berlind Theatre and Matthews Theater in the McCarter Theatre Center, Richardson Auditorium, Taplin Auditorium and Theatre Intime in Murray Dodge Hall, and many others.
- The Princeton University Art Museum houses almost 60,000 objects encompassing virtually every inhabited area of the globe and in time periods from prehistoric to contemporary and is a major attraction on campus.
- Visitors and neighbors attend lectures on campus and use athletic facilities and attend athletic events at facilities such as Baker Rink, Princeton, Stadium, Weaver Track and Field, and Jadwin Gymnasium. Community members also attend services at the University Chapel.
- The Shea Rowing Center at Princeton is used as a training facility for the US Olympic Rowing Team.
